Pregnant women with Opioid Use Disorder and the Benefits of Buprenorphine, with an Emphasis on Homeless Healthcare
Enduring July 2021-July 2023
This presentation will cover basic pharmacodynamics of Buprenorphine and how it can benefit moms and babies during pregnancy and during the postpartum period. Will also briefly discuss how this affects moms experiencing homelessness.
Emily Humphrey is a Family Nurse Practitioner out of Austin Texas. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing Degree from Vanderbilt University and her Doctorate of Family Nursing Practice Degree from the University of Tennessee. She has been practicing for 7 years with a focus on homeless healthcare and those experiencing opioid use disorders. She spent 2 years in Tennessee working in an inpatient facility for pregnant and non-pregnant women experiencing substance use disorders. Then, since moving to Austin she has continued to work in homeless healthcare as well as lead a clinic focusing on opioid use disorders in the outpatient setting. She has a 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter who keep her busy when she isn't at work!
